Hi guys! So today I’m going to show you how you can make your own really pretty bow, just by using household items!
Here’s what my finished bow looked like:
Want to make something similar to mine? Here’s how to:
1. Fabric or an old top etc, anything that has a light weight. You can use any pattern/colour fabric that you like.
2. Fabric scissors, they are the best and easiest way to cut fabric. If you don’t have fabric scissors you can always use your normal scissors!
3. Fabric glue. I used fabric glue but I should have used super glue because it’s a lot stronger, I did use super glue towards the end of the production. I do advise you to use super glue because it is a lot better.
4. Hair clip. I got mine off an old/ruined flower clip. (I’ll show you further down.) If you don’t have a clip like I showed above you can always use a hair slide or any other clip that you’re comfortable with.
5. Beads/buttons. I didn’t use these beads (or buttons) on my bow but when I make more I probably will. So using your super glue you can glue the beads/buttons wherever you like!

This is the flower clip I got my silver clip from:
^ I just cut and pulled it off. ^
Steps:
Taking your fabric, it should be about 12-13cm long, depending on how big you want your bow to be. If you want your bow the same size as mine do it 12-13cm or if you want it bigger do 15-16cm.
So flip your fabric onto the ‘wrong side’ (the not so detailed/faded/lighter side of the fabric) and fold it over half. Like it’s shown above. ^
And because my fabric is thin, or if you’re fabric is thin fold it over a second time. It should look like this:
^Now using a ruler measure out 12-13cm (if you want a bow the same size as mine.)
Then cut of the extra/not needed fabric.
^I’m going to use the fabric on the right because it’s longer.^
DON’T THROW AWAY THE FABRIC ON THE LEFT.
Your 12-13cm fabric should look like this:
Then taking the left side of your fabric fold it over half way to the right end, like this:
Then taking the right end of the fabric fold it over half way to the left. Like this:
^Both the fabrics should now be on top of each other. ^
Unfold the 2 folded end of the fabric so that you can glue them.
Begin to glue (super glue) the very bottom of 1 side of the folded other fabric. Like this:
It should then look like this:
Then taking the non glued folded piece of the fabric fold it over to the glued end of the fabric and press down firmly. It should then look like this:
Once that’s dried, gently place your thumb and your index finger in the middle of the un-finished bow, and then pinch it, like this:
^ It should begin to look like a bow.
By doing this you can see whereabouts you need to put the glue.
I put it here:
Pinch it again:
^Keep your fingers there until the glue dries.
NOW, remember that left over fabric we cut off earlier? Get that, and fold it/cut it until it becomes around 9-10cm long and 2/2.5cm wide.
Like this:
^Glue the fabric like this:
^And fold the wrong sided fabric onto it, to secure it, like this:
You should have a long-ish ropey material now.
Taking your bow, wrap the ropey material around the middle of the bow, and glue it in place.
If your ropey material was too long cut it a bit so that you can’t see the cut end of the material.
It should look like the above image ^ No cut areas are being shown, the cut side should be on the back of the bow, where you can’t see it.
Now taking your clip/hair slide, glue the top of it and place it into the little slot between the actual bow and the ropey material, like this:
OR you can glue the top of the clip onto the back of the ropey material, it has a better grip that way when it’s in your hair.
AND…YOU’RE DONE!
WOO!
Hopefully this made sense, if not feel free to comment below saying what you didn’t understand, I’d be happy to help! They are pretty easy once you get the hang of it, and you do get the jift of it while you’re doing it!
Me wearing it:
Love you guys!
